Plaka Beach

Just 3 km from the village of Leonidio is the famous Plaka Beach, where visitors have the unique opportunity to go swimming in the waters of the Myrtoan Sea. A pebbly beach with deep and clear waters and a coastline of about 4 km, where you can either choose to sit at a beach bar (there are 3 in total, with a short distance between them), or not, as the beach is long enough to meet the needs of even the more solitary visitors.

At the entrance to the beach you will initially find yourselves at the port of Leonidio, where you can also go swimming, provided that the weather allows it, as the calm waters of Plaka are perfect for swimming. You will also find taverns and restaurants, a beach bar at the port and also a small river, where you can usually see ducks, a unique spectacle, especially for young children.

Poulithra Beach

Further into Leonidio and on the way to the village of Poulithra, there is a pebbly beach (not as cosmopolitan as Plaka Beach) with a long coastline and clear waters, organized at certain parts. It is worth noting that there are various small inlets formed on the way to Poulithra, where the more daring hiking lovers can walk the right trails to go swimming in a secluded beach with natural shade created by the area’s vegetation.

In the village of Poulithra there are bars, taverns, restaurants and mini markets.

Tigani Beach

A well-known beach close to Tyros on the road to Leonidio, with deep blue waters. A sign along the road indicates its location. You will have to leave your car and walk a short distance to reach the beach. There is a restaurant above the beach. On the beach, there is a refreshment stand with parasols to rent and water sports, as well as a beach bar at the end of the beach.

Thiopafto Beach

Shortly before Sambatiki, you will find the small, unorganized, picturesque Thiopafto Beach, surrounded by greenery.
Ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.
Beach with pebbles and a bit of sand.

Leonidio has been a reference point for climbing in Greece since the mid-80s. The Leonidio climbing park is especially well-known to climbing lovers worldwide due to the good quality of rocks and the favorable climatic conditions that make climbing particularly attractive during the winter months.

In addition, there are over 1000 routes with various levels of difficulty, and new ones continue being opened by famous climbers, through the support of local organizations and businesses, such as our Hotel.

Our Hotel cooperates with experienced climbing instructors, who can introduce you to this alternative sport (which is now part of the Olympics), always observing all necessary safety measures and providing suitable equipment.
Since 2016, three climbing festivals have taken place in Leonidio (they are usually hosted within the first ten days of November), which have been an absolute success.

Cycling

1) Leonidio and the surrounding areas are an ideal destination for road cycling. The condition of the road is excellent and the routes combine mountain and sea. The routes have various difficulty levels, thus making this specific sport even more attractive, as it can meet any demand and it can range from a pleasant and relaxed cycling activity up to an intense cycling workout.

The beauty of Mount Parnon with its rich vegetation, picturesque villages and the combination of mountain and sea invite the cyclist to explore them and to get to know the area’s natural attractions.

The “Fabrica”, the building of the Center for the Promotion of the Agricultural History and the Sea Routes in the Eastern Peloponnese, located at Leonidio, has a multifaceted history of 160 years. Construction began in 1855 and was completed in 1859.

The Fabrica hosts a permanent exhibition of items focusing on the agricultural production and maritime trade of the Eastern Peloponnese. It is also used as a cultural center and conference hall. You can find more information at the following link:

Across our Hotel there is one more mansion of Leonidio, Archontiko Tsouchlou.
This Archontiko was the residence of the painter Vrasidas Tsouchlos (1904-1981), who was the creator of spectacular works with themes from his beloved Leonidio.
Archontiko Tsouchlou, older than 100 years old, consists of the main house and its outhouses, while the house’s painted ceilings with obvious influences from the East on arched window sills and curved curtain rods are a proper masterpiece.

It is now used as a cultural center for information and for learning the Tsakonian dialect, as well as the art of the loom. During the summer, its courtyard is also used as an outdoor projection area.
