FLASHBACK

Konstantinos Hiotis migrated at a very young age after the national palingenesis. In particular, he was installed in Varna, Bulgary which was built near the ancient Greek colony of Odessa and constituted the most important economic centre of the era. Spirit of discernment and creative, as genuine Tsakonas, achieved great things on a business level by creating the largest distillery unit in the region, while a significant number of residents in Leonidio worked for him. His wife Aggeliki was fellow traveler at this course, while they did not have any children. However, they have adopted the eight year old, fatherless, nephew of his wife, Michalis Sioras that they brought up like their own child. In the mid nineteenth century almost, having acquired a significant fortune, Konstantinos Hiotis has assigned to Michalis to supervise the operation of his business and has decided with his wife to return to his birthplace.

There, under the red rock of Leonidio was built his mansion house and stayed until the end of his life. The mansion house constitutes a monument of the area, but also a reference point of the family because it hosted its members with a lot of love and affection since in the difficulties of life were consoled to the arms of the elderly rulers. The time that has passed from then until today, seems to have respected the history of this house and has left intact not only the building, but also the objects. The elaborate painted ceilings and floors, as well as the piano, the Viennese chairs, the serving trays and the platters with the handmade depictions of time issues refer to another era where respect dominated to the human relations. Three generations since then, the great great grandchildren of the aforementioned and current owners of the mansion house, with effort, hack value and by respecting their inheritance, have decided to adapt their family mansion house to a modern hotel unit maintaining in a respectful way all the elements and the heirlooms.

RESTORATION

In the picturesque Leonidio which is the capital of Tsakonia is situated the Mansion House of Hiotis, where its construction started in 1860 and was completed in 1864 by the noble businessman Konstantinos Hiotis with registered office of his businesses Varna in the Black Sea, in order to be used as a residence when he was visiting Leonidio at regular intervals.

Almost 160 years later, the magnificent mansion building was completely restored in a unique way, so that its most characteristics (ceiling paintings, wall paintings, wall decorations, wooden ceilings, laths from wood and stone, wooden delicate casings, ceramic tiles with depictions) which specify the imposing appearance of the building to be maintained, to be repaired and to be brought out, as is proper to the rich history of the mansion house which constitutes a genuine model of the architectural heritage of Leonidio.

Our mansion combines the modern amenities of a luxurious hotel and the coziness of a traditional ‘Archontiko’, making our guests feel right at home. The antiques decorating the interior and exterior areas, the brass lamps, as well as the hand-painted tiles and ceilings constitute an integral part of the Archontiko’s history. Greek Breakfast

The “ARCHONTIKO CHIOTI” participates in the “Greek Breakfast” program and has received a relevant certification by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels.
This means that our breakfast s in total harmony with the environment of the village, compensating visitors for coming to the beautiful and traditional village of Leonidio.
Our breakfast is based on the main products of the Arcadian land. For the most part, it is prepared by our staff with zeal, care and with constant effort to provide something different and authentic, such as handmade jams (strawberry, apricot, apple), local spoon sweets (eggplant, sour cherry, grape), traditional pies etc.
Therefore, it goes hand in hand with the history of our Archontiko, as proven by the way it has always been received by our guests.
Breakfast is provided daily between 8:00-10:30.

Wellness Services

Our guests can enjoy a relaxing steam bath (hammam) at the mansion’s premises, with multiple benefits for the body, contributing to physical and mental balance.

Moreover, our guests are able to rest and relax in the heated 3-seat hot tub at the Archontiko, especially after a day filled with climbing the one-of-a-kind climbing routes of Leonidio or after exciting hiking activities on the trails of Mount Parnon, thus rejuvenating the muscles and reducing any pain and muscle injuries.

In addition, the Archontiko offers massage treatments by expert partners, subject to availability.

At the same time, beauty services are offered by external partners, subject to availability.

The above wellness and beauty services are provided for an extra fee and reservation is required.

The Spa is open daily from 11:00-21:00 and it is only available to hotel residents.

Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to enter the Hotel’s wellness area without adult supervision.

Outdoor Pool

Our guests can also enjoy unique and relaxing moments by our outdoor pool, with a view of the “Kokkinovrachos” (red rock) of Leonidio.

We can offer beverages, refreshing cocktails, seasonal fruits, light meals (salads, pizzas, sandwich etc.), as well as local desserts.

There are sunbeds and tables around the pool, while parasols provide you with shade and a pleasant feeling.

COVID-19 Update

Our Hotel operates in compliance with the Special Health Protocols set out by Decision no. 1881/29-5-2020 (Government Gazette Β 2084/2020) by the Ministers of Health and Tourism, aiming at the protection of Public Health due to COVID-19.

All members of our team are constantly trained on the new hygiene and cleanliness measures required, which were added to the already meticulous hygiene and cleanliness protocols that were being applied at our Archontiko before the pandemic’s outbreak.

Consequently, our Hotel has been granted the “Health First” certification mark with a personalized Health Content Protocol by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, in accordance with the relevant instructions of the National Public Health Organization (EODY) and the Ministry of Tourism.
